Meet Chester. The mouse. Malia informed me that there was a mouse named Chester in our window well. I couldn't have been more freaked out at first. But then then little guy started to grow on me. He was a chubby little thing, scurrying around, and as you can see in the bottom picture, trying to jump out "to get back to his family." This kept the girls occupied for what seemed like an eternity. That night Darrin put a ladder down into the window well to let it climb out. Malia was very sad. I asked why? because she had said she wanted him to be able to get back to his family....and she replied that Chester was supposed to be a part of our family now...hmph, head down, sad face...wa wa wa. And off to the keyboard she went to make up a sad song about the loss of her Chester.

Chester...that is priceless.
Did you ever read that Blaine Yorgason book, "Chester I Love You"? It was about a kid growing attached to a goose named Chester that the family was supposed to eventually eat for Thanksgiving dinner. That's what this story reminded me of.
I haven't read that, but it sounds cute. I guess being a Blaine Yorgason book it's not a kids book right? I sounds like something Malia might like. She actually, I think, thought of the name from a book she has from the library called "The Kissing Hand" The little raccoon's name is Chester in that.
Haha! Nice blog background! I was going to put the same one on mine tonight! I think I'll pick another now... :)
We've decided not to name our mice. They become less cute when they show up inside your house.
